Learning Champions at GCC

Greenwich Community College supports this project by offering any General Interest course free of charge to any learner,  referred by a Community Learning Champion, who fulfills the following criteria:

• The learners must live, work or volunteer in the Borough of Greenwich
• They must be over the age of 19
• They must not have attended any formal education for at least three years

It is the role of a Learning Champion to….

• Help the learner to choose an appropriate course, by offering advice and guidance
• Aid in the completion of the GCC enrolment forms and offer advice about forms of ID
• Accompany the learner to the College and help them through the process by showing their own Champions ID card as evidence

Reception staff in all branches of the College should be aware of this project and follow these procedures for enrolling learners:

• All Community Learning Champions will have an up-to-date I.D. card which they will carry with them
• GCC staff should photocopy this card and clip the copy to the enrollment form
• The words ‘Community Learning Champions Project’ and ‘referred by’ and the Learning Champions name should be written in the payments section of the enrollment form.
